Susan Fischer was born in Miami Beach, Florida and has lived at various times of her life in Wisconsin, California, South Dakota and Massachusetts. She received her B.A. in Fine Art and Art History from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She has exhibited her paintings in galleries in San Francisco and Sacramento, California. Susan is currently exhibiting paintings at Milward Farrell Fine Art in Madison and Gary's Art and Frame in Middleton, WI. The artist has also been very involved with both gallery and private sales of art by other artists for the past thirty years. She resides in Wisconsin where she continues to pursue her art.
In her belief that painting is a function of all the senses, she attempts to bring the natural color, light and atmosphere of the raw landscape into the studio where she does most of her work. Even with her abstract canvases there is a sense of a landscape within, and the four elements--earth, air, fire and water are incorporated into each painting. "As we are all a part of nature, it becomes an intrinsic part of our creative process."
Susan has worked in the mediums of watercolor, acrylic, encaustic, pastel and oil, but currently works only in oil.
She does not paint to record or to duplicate, but rather to capture the mood and heartbeat of the land--places where she has lived or visited and loved.
"One touch of nature...makes all the world kin."
